Orações Subordinadas Consecutivas - Clauses of Result

As orações subordinadas adverbiais consecutivas (clauses of result) descrevem o resultado de uma ação ou situação que é expressa na oração principal. Veja o exemplo abaixo:

This book is so interesting (that) I can't stop reading it. (Este livro é tão interessante que eu não consigo para de lê-lo.)

As orações subordinadas consecutivas podem ter as seguintes estruturas:

- such a / an... that...

Julia is such an adorable person (that) everybody wants to speak to her. (Júlia é uma pessoa tão adorável que todos querem falar com ela.)

It is such a beautiful day (that) we can't stay at home. (O dia está tão bonito que não podemos ficar em casa.)

- such... that...

The issue was of such importance (that) we could not ignore it. (O assunto era de tanta importância que não pudemos ingorá-lo.)

It was such sour wine (that) we didn't drink it. We threw it away. (O vinho estava tão azedo que não o bebemos. Nós o jogamos fora.)

We saw such inexpensive painting in the museum (that) we had to buy some of them. (Nós vimos quadros tão baratos no museu que tivemos que comprar alguns deles.)

- so... that...

The man is crossing the street so slowly (that) he might be run over by a car. (O homem está atravessando a rua tão vagarosamente que pode ser atropelado por um carro.)

- so much / many / little / few... that...

There was so many books on the subjetc (that) Mag didn't know where to begin. (Havia tantos livros sobre o assunto que Mag não sabia por onde começar.)

There were so few slices of pizza left (that) we ordered another one. (Havia sobrado tão poucos pedaços de pizza que nós pedimos outra.)
